The Northern Region Farm Machinery Training and Testing Institute in Hisar will now issue CMVR certification for agricultural tractors, according to Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. This move is expected to benefit manufacturers in North India's agriculture sector. Additionally, a Custom Hiring Centre is being launched at the institute, allowing small farmers to rent machinery like rotavators and ploughs, thus boosting productivity.

Saini spoke at the Krishi Darshan Exhibition's inauguration, organised by Agri India Exhibition in Karnal. He emphasised the exhibition's role in advancing Haryana's agricultural mechanisation efforts and providing farmers with insights into modern techniques. The Chief Minister also urged machinery manufacturers to develop affordable equipment tailored to farmers' needs.
Focus on Innovation and Technology
Highlighting innovation's importance, Saini encouraged agricultural engineers and manufacturers to drive advancements. He advised farmers to leverage government schemes by adopting new technologies, improved seeds, and organic farming practices. Water conservation was also stressed, with a push towards sprinkler and drip irrigation systems.
The state government offers subsidies of 70% to 80% on these initiatives. Saini stated that Haryana aims for maximum farmer participation in becoming a prosperous and modern state. "Our goal is to make every farmer prosperous, self-reliant, and ensure they reap the full benefits of their hard work," he said.
Government Support and Financial Aid
Saini highlighted welfare schemes under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. He compared the pre-2014 Congress government's Rs 1,155 crore crop loss compensation allocation to the current government's Rs 13,500 crore provision from 2014 to 2025. The central agriculture budget has also increased from Rs 25,000 crore to Rs 1,25,000 crore.
He noted that farmers' progress and agriculture sector modernisation are crucial for transforming Haryana into a developed state. As a farmer's son, Saini understands modern machines' significance in easing agricultural work and reducing costs. He acknowledged the sector's unprecedented changes in the 21st century.
Challenges and Solutions
Saini addressed challenges like shrinking land holdings, declining groundwater levels, and climate change effects on crops. These issues have led to increased reliance on chemical fertilisers and pesticides. He called for collective efforts from the government, scientists, and farmers to tackle these challenges.
The Haryana government is implementing special schemes for tractors, harvesters, and other essential equipment. A plan is underway to rent machinery to small farmers for higher production at lower costs. "Haryana is the first state where all crops are purchased at Minimum Support Price," he said.
Saini concluded by stating that advanced technologies enable farmers to increase yields while reducing costs. The state's goal is to ensure every farmer becomes prosperous through hard work and modern technology adoption.
