On 1 June, CNG price in Delhi and cities adjoining the national capital region was hiked by one rupee per kg for the additional cost incurred to keep stations coronavirus ready, a PTI report said. Indraprastha Gas Ltd, the firm that retails CNG to automobiles and piped natural gas to household kitchens, revised CNG price in the national capital "from Rs 42/ kg to Rs 43/ kg, w.e.f. 6 am on 2nd June 2020," the firm tweeted.
However, there will be no change in piped cooking gas prices.
In a series of tweets, Indraprastha Gas said the CNG prices with effect from 6 am on 2 June will be revised to :
- Rs 43/kg from Rs 42/kg in Delhi
- Rs 50.85/kg from Rs 49.85/kg in Karnal, Haryana
- Rs 55/kg from Rs 54.15/ kg in Rewari, Haryana
- Rs 48.75/kg from Rs 47.75/kg in Noida, Greater Noida & Ghaziabad
The company had last cut CNG price by Rs 3.2 per kg and piped natural gas rate by Rs 1.55 per unit from April 3.

The nationwide lockdown imposed from 25 March saw fuel sales drop by as much as 90 percent but relaxations thereafter have not helped demand recover to pre-COVID levels. Despite the decline in sales, the company continued to incur expenditure on paying salaries, fixed charges for power connections, maintenance of equipment and rent, which is why the firm decided to raise CNG prices, sources told PTI.
