This contract further solidifies CSL's position as a prominent player in sustainable solutions.

Cochin Shipyard Sails into Offshore Wind Energy with Major Contract

Details of the Contract

While specific details regarding the client and the contract value remain undisclosed, CSL has emphasised the importance of this contract in strengthening its presence in the global renewable energy sector. The company's focus on sustainable solutions aligns with the growing global demand for environmentally friendly energy sources.

Ongoing Project and Expertise

In addition to the new contract, CSL is currently engaged in the construction of two Commissioning Service Operation Vessels (CSOVs) for another European client. This ongoing project further demonstrates CSL's expertise in the offshore support vessel domain.

Features of the Hybrid SOVs

The hybrid SOVs being built by CSL are designed by VARD AS, Norway, and cater specifically to the service, maintenance, and operational requirements of the offshore wind industry. These vessels are equipped with advanced features, including a fully electric cycloidal propulsion system, a 3D motion compensated gangway system (walk2work), and a 3D crane, which collectively form the mission equipment.

Environmental Considerations

In line with the focus on sustainability, the hybrid SOVs are designed to minimise environmental impact. They will be classed with DNV Clean Design and the latest Cyber Secure Notations. The hybrid electric propulsion system, powered by 3x1300 ekW diesel generator sets along with a large Lithium battery pack, significantly reduces emissions.

Cochin Shipyard Limited's success in securing an international contract for hybrid Service Operation Vessels underscores its commitment to sustainable solutions and its expertise in the offshore support vessel domain. As the global demand for renewable energy continues to grow, CSL is well-positioned to capitalise on this opportunity and contribute to a greener future.
