The central government on August 29 cut the cooking gas prices by Rs 200 per cylinder for all domestic consumers. Now the leading public sector Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have reduced the prices of 19 kg commercial LPG gas cylinders by nearly Rs 158. The latest move is likely to offer respite to scores of LPG consumers from high inflation that was inched to 15-month high to 7.44% earlier this year in July.
After the decline of Rs 158 in Delhi the cost of commercial LPG cylinder will come down to Rs 1522.50. The new rates have already become effective beginning from September 1, 2023.

Earlier this year in August, the leading OMCs reduced the prices of commercial LPG by Rs 99.75 while in July, the cost of commercial LPG gas cylinder were raised by Rs 7. Previously, in May and June this year, there were back to back price cuts in commercial LPG cylinders. In May, OMCs slashed the price of commercial LPG cylinder by Rs 172 and in June, the prices were reduced by Rs 83.
Meanwhile, the union cabinet on August 29, 2023 also gave its approval for an additional subsidy of Rs 200 under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) thus taking the entire amount of subsidy for Ujjwala scheme beneficiaries to Rs 400. "PM Modi has decided Rs 200 reduction in the price of domestic LPG cylinders, for all users...this is a gift from PM Narendra Modi, to the women of the country, during the occasion of Raksha Bandhan and Onam," said Union Minister Anurag Thakur.
The retail sales price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder will be Rs 1636.00 after a decline of Rs 166.50 in Kolkata and Rs 1482.00 in Mumbai after a fall of Rs 158.50
The cost of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder will be Rs 1695.00 in Chennai after a dip of Rs 157.50 and Rs 1609.50 in Bangalore after a fall of 158.00.
In Hyderabad, the 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder will cost Rs 1753.00 now after a dip of Rs 165.00 and in Patna it will retail at Rs 1795.00 after prices have come down by Rs 167 here.
