Rajinikanth's film Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is nearing the Rs 500 crore mark in global box office collections. After a slight decline in its first week, the action thriller rebounded during its second weekend, surpassing Rs 450 crore worldwide. This achievement places Coolie as the fourth-highest-grossing Tamil film ever.
Coolie Worldwide Box Office Collection
By the end of its second weekend, Coolie had been in theatres for 11 days, earning Rs 256.75 crore net (Rs 304 crore gross) within India. The film experienced a significant drop after its first Monday but bounced back with a 70% increase on the second Saturday. Over the second weekend, it earned over Rs 27 crore net domestically.

Rajinikanth's Coolie in International Box Office
Globally, Coolie initially broke several records for Tamil cinema in countries like the US, UK, and Australia. However, similar to its domestic performance, international collections slowed after the opening weekend. Currently, its overseas earnings stand at just over $22 million (Rs 180 crore).
With these figures combined, Coolie has amassed Rs 484 crore worldwide and is close to reaching the Rs 500 crore milestone. On Sunday, thanks to strong domestic performance, it surpassed Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1, which had earned around Rs 480 crore globally.
Coolie Vs Other Tamil Films
Coolie's success makes it the fourth-highest-grossing Tamil film of all time. The top three spots are held by two other Rajinikanth films, 2.0 and Jailer and Vijay's Leo. This achievement highlights Rajinikanth's enduring popularity and box office appeal.
The movie features Rajinikanth as a retired coolie investigating his friend's death. The cast includes Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, Soubin Shahir, Upendra, and Aamir Khan in a special appearance.
As Coolie continues its theatrical run, it is poised to cross the Rs 300 crore mark in domestic collections alone.
