Following TRAI's request to telecom players for taking necessary measures to protect the interest of their pre-paid customers during the coronavirus-led lockdown, Airtel and BSNL have decided to extend validity of their plans as well as offer additional talk time for free.

Here's what BSNL has announced?
BSNL announced validity extension for its prepaid subscribers up to April 20 for free. Also for customers whose balance becomes zero during the current lockdown period, the state-run company would provide Rs. 10 free talk time.
"BSNL firmly stands with its subscribers during this crisis period and we request the subscribers to "Go Digital" for recharging their accounts. Several options available for recharge include MyBSNL mobile app, BSNL website, and other popular wallet services," Praveen Kumar Purwar, CMD of BSNL said.
Airtel to not stop Incoming Services Until April 17
Private telecom player Airtel has announced that it will not stop incoming services until April 17, thereby extending the pre-paid plan validity. So even after the expiry of the validity period, customers will continue to receive incoming calls on their Airtel mobile numbers. Also the telecom major will offer Rs. 10 free talktime to all subscribers in the low-income category. In the next 2 days, the company wishes to cover as many as 80 million users within the low income segment.
Airtel was the second telecom company to announce that it would not restrict incoming services until April 17 for prepaid users and would provide Rs 10 talktime for all low-income users. The company intends to effectively cover 80 million subscribers as part of the low-income group in the next 48 hours.
"In this difficult hour of fighting off the threat of Covid-19, Airtel is committed to ensuring that all people remain connected without any disruptions. And for this objective, it is critical to take care of the under-privileged daily wage earners of our country, whose lives have been disrupted due to the lock-down," said Shashwat Sharma, Chief Marketing Officer, Bharti Airtel.
