Mumbai, February 21: Private equity and investment advisory firm CVC Capital Partners announced on Wednesday that it has successfully raised USD 6.8 billion, equivalent to approximately Rs 56,366 crore.
Investments in Domestic Companies
The Luxembourg-based company currently has over USD 1 billion invested in four Indian companies: Gujarat Titans (an Indian Premier League franchise), Healthcare Global, Sajjan India, and United Lex. With the newly raised funds, CVC plans to make additional investments in promising domestic companies.
Fund Closure and Investor Demand
CVC, which focuses on private markets, private equity, secondaries, credit, and infrastructure, highlighted that the latest fund closure surpassed its predecessor fund by 50%. The previous fund, raised in 2020, had secured USD 4.5 billion. The recent fundraising round witnessed strong demand from both new and existing blue-chip investors, enabling CVC to exceed its initial target of USD 6 billion and the hard cap of USD 6.5 billion.
Leading PE Player in Asia
With the successful fundraise, CVC solidifies its position as one of the leading private equity players in the Asia region. The firm has raised over USD 21 billion across its Asia-focused funds, demonstrating its commitment to the region's growth potential.
Investment Focus and Track Record
The new fund will primarily focus on control, co-control, and partnership investments in high-quality businesses operating in core consumer and services sectors across Asia. CVC has a proven track record in the region, having been active since 1999 and completing over 80 acquisitions.
Global Asset Management and Portfolio
CVC manages a substantial USD 199 billion in assets under management (AUM) globally, diversified across seven complementary investment strategies. These strategies include CVC Europe/Americas, CVC Asia, strategic opportunities, growth, secondaries, credit, and infrastructure. The funds managed or advised by CVC are invested in more than 125 companies worldwide, generating combined annual sales of approximately 166 billion euros.
CVC Capital Partners' successful fundraising of USD 6.8 billion underscores its strong position in the private equity landscape. With a focus on high-quality investments in Asia's consumer and services sectors, CVC is poised to capitalize on the region's growth opportunities and deliver value to its investors.
