Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah is set to inaugurate a workshop focused on sustainability and circularity within the dairy sector. During this event, several memorandums of understanding (MOUs) will be signed to facilitate the establishment of biogas plants across various states. The workshop aims to promote environmentally responsible dairy farming practices through comprehensive guidelines and new financing initiatives.

Focus on Circularity in Dairy Sector
The workshop will emphasise circularity, a concept that involves the reuse, regeneration, and recycling of resources. Policies from the Ministry of Cooperation and the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying will be highlighted to promote sustainable dairy farming while balancing economic growth with environmental responsibility.
Technical sessions will explore sustainable manure management models that transform dairy waste into biogas, compressed biogas (CBG), and organic fertilisers. Experts from the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), industry, and global organisations will discuss expanding circular dairy practices and financing options.
Key Attendees and Discussions
Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Rajiv Ranjan Singh, along with Ministers of State S.P. Singh Baghel and George Kurian, will attend the event. The Dairy and Animal Husbandry Department Secretary Alka Upadhyaya and other senior officials are also expected to participate.
The discussions will cover carbon credit opportunities, waste-to-energy solutions, and technology's role in enhancing dairy farming efficiency. Officials will announce new financing initiatives under NDDB and NABARD's Large Scale Biogas projects and the Sustain Plus Project.
The workshop aims to foster collaboration among stakeholders to advance sustainable practices in the dairy sector. By focusing on circularity, the event seeks to ensure that economic growth aligns with environmental stewardship in dairy farming practices.
