The Income-Tax Department has established a round-the-clock control room to monitor the movement of unaccounted cash, bullion, and other valuables during the Delhi assembly elections. This initiative aims to ensure clean and fair elections. The Directorate of Income Tax Investigation in Delhi has implemented several measures to oversee these activities, particularly during the Model Code of Conduct period within the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi.

The directorate has set up a 24/7 Control Room at Civic Centre, New Delhi. A toll-free number, 1800111309, has been provided for individuals to report any suspicious activity related to cash, bullion, or precious metals within the NCT of Delhi. This is specifically in connection with the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. The voting is scheduled for February 5, with counting on February 8.
Ensuring Confidentiality and Security
Residents can use the toll-free number without revealing personal information like their name or identity details. The statement from the finance ministry assures that the informant's identity will remain confidential. This measure is intended to encourage more people to report any suspicious activities without fear of exposure.
The control room will remain operational throughout the entire period of the Model Code of Conduct in Delhi. It will continue its operations until the conclusion of the elections. This ensures continuous monitoring and quick response to any reports of irregularities during this critical time.
The establishment of this control room and toll-free number reflects a proactive approach by authorities to maintain transparency and integrity in the electoral process. By facilitating anonymous reporting, they aim to curb any misuse of unaccounted resources that could influence election outcomes.
