International air travel has taken a hit as the escalating Israel-Iran conflict has led to partial airspace closure over Iran, Iraq, and neighbouring regions, affecting flight schedules to and from India. Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport has issued an official travel advisory, confirming disruptions to various international flights due to the volatile Middle East airspace situation.
Airspace Over Iran and Iraq Closed; Flight Schedules Impacted
In a public advisory posted on X , Delhi Airport (IGIA) stated, "Delhi airport operations are running smoothly. However, due to evolving airspace conditions over Iran, Iraq, and the neighbouring region, some flight schedules have been impacted."
This development comes after Israel launched a pre-emptive strike against Iran, causing heightened security concerns and the closure of crucial flight corridors over Iranian and Iraqi airspace, which serve as key routes for flights between India, Europe, and North America.

Air India Issues Emergency Advisory: Flights Diverted or Returning
Air India, India's national carrier, has also issued an urgent advisory notifying passengers about multiple flight diversions and returns due to the closure of Iranian airspace. The airline emphasised passenger safety and detailed the affected routes.
"We regret the inconvenience caused to our passengers due to this unforeseen disruption and are making every effort to minimise it, including providing accommodation for passengers. Refunds on cancellation or complimentary rescheduling are also being offered to guests who opt for it. "Alternative arrangements are being made to fly passengers to their destinations," the airline stated.
Affected Flights Include:
AI130 (London Heathrow-Mumbai) - Diverted to Vienna
AI102 (New York-Delhi) - Diverted to Sharjah
AI116 (New York-Mumbai) - Diverted to Jeddah
AI2018 (London Heathrow-Delhi) - Diverted to Mumbai
