Delhi-Mumbai Expressway Progress: Nitin Gadkari Reviews Construction Efforts for Timely Completion

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari recently assessed the progress of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Surat, Gujarat. This expressway aims to connect India's capital with its financial hub, reducing travel time from 24 hours to just 12. Gadkari emphasised that efforts are underway to complete this significant project swiftly by overcoming all hurdles.

During his visit, Gadkari inspected a section of the expressway under construction in Gujarat. He stated, "We are trying to complete the project as soon as possible by removing all obstacles. The road has been built well. We are rectifying all minor deficiencies by employing the best technology." The minister highlighted that the expressway's quality is being meticulously checked to ensure a comfortable experience for drivers.

Expressway's Impact on Connectivity

The expressway will link major economic centres across several states, including Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. This connectivity is expected to enhance trade and tourism significantly. Gadkari expressed his vision of seeing electric trucks and buses on this road in the future, incorporating advanced technology to lower logistics costs.

Gadkari noted that trees would be planted along both sides of the highway to provide a green cover. He believes that once completed, the expressway will boost exports and tourism while making travel more convenient for people. "I believe this road, once completed, will boost exports as well as tourism, and peoples travel will become more convenient," he said.

Progress and Future Plans

The foundation stone for this ambitious project was laid in 2019. The expressway will also connect with Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, allowing direct travel between Mumbai and Delhi. Gadkari described it as a significant milestone in India's infrastructure history due to its length and width.

Following his visit to Surat, Gadkari continued his inspection tour to Navsari and Valsad districts in south Gujarat. He acknowledged the contributions of engineers, contractors, and state governments in nearing completion of this extensive highway project.

Gadkari affirmed, "This is a significant road in the country's history, and there are very few highways of this length and width in the world. Thanks to the contributions of our engineers, contractors, and especially the state government, we have almost reached the completion stage."
