Dream Theater's First Tour in India Since 2017
This marks Dream Theater's first tour in India since 2017, when they last performed at MMRDA Grounds in Mumbai. While fans in the west and south have previously had the chance to attend their shows, the 2026 performance in Kolkata will be the band's first-ever concert in eastern India, adding an extra layer of anticipation for music lovers in the region.
"We can't wait to return to India, Indonesia, Australia, South Korea and Japan as part of our 40th Anniversary Tour in 2026," the band shared in an official Instagram post.
What to Expect?
The upcoming India shows are expected to feature a powerful blend of classic hits, deep cuts and new material from Parasomnia. Formed in 1985 at Berklee College of Music in Boston by John Petrucci (guitar), John Myung (bass), and Mike Portnoy (drums), Dream Theater has grown into one of the most respected and pioneering acts in progressive metal. Known for their complex compositions, conceptual albums, and live virtuosity, the band has maintained a devoted global following.
Their current lineup of Dream Theatre features:
- John Petrucci - Guitar
- John Myung - Bass
- James LaBrie - Vocals
- Jordan Rudess - Keyboards
- Mike Portnoy - Drums (rejoined in 2023 after a 13-year break)
Portnoy's return to the band in 2023 was a landmark moment for fans, reuniting the classic core of Dream Theater just in time for their 40th anniversary.
Dream Theater has released 16 studio albums over the last four decades, beginning with When Dream and Day Unite in 1989. Their 1992 breakthrough Images and Words, featuring the hit single "Pull Me Under", brought them international acclaim.
The 1999 concept album Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory is widely hailed as one of the greatest progressive rock albums of all time. Other fan-favorite albums include Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence (2002), Train of Thought (2003), and Octavarium (2005).
Their latest studio album, Parasomnia (2025), continues their tradition of complex musical storytelling and technical brilliance.
