Bright, glowing and huge X is no longer shining above the headquarters of Elon Musk's communication platform 'X' in San Francisco. The giant 'X' is the new face of what was previously known as Twitter. However, the new sign was brought down on Monday after receiving two dozen complaints. The city residents complained that Musk's firm installed the giant, flashing sign above its building without a required permit.
According to reports, the San Francisco Department of Building Inspection received 24 complaints related to the 'X' sign above the Twitter headquarters. Some even showed concerns over the giant sign's structural safety and illumination.

Patrick Hannan, a spokesperson for the department, told NPR, that a building permit is technically required to dismantle the sign too, but the removal was allowed to proceed "duty to safety concerns".
Last week, a city inspector visited the headquarters of Twitter to alert about its permit violation and to examine the sign located on the roof.
However, NPR reported that a Twitter representative denied access but explained that the structure is "a temporary lighted sign for an event." The inspector clarified that any signage without a permit must be removed.
It was only a week ago since Musk rebranded Twitter and set the famous 'blue bird' free by introducing an illuminating 'X'.
But many netizens have shown mixed reactions to the rebranding, some even asking for the bird to be brought back while many are excited with the new logo. Overall, the majority of them disliked the new logo.
The wealthiest man in the world, Musk dramatically revealed Twitter's new logo in a series of tweets that started on July 23 followed by its official launch on July 24.
Twitter has undergone a series of changes since Tesla's CEO took reign in October last year.
Although, the SpaceX founder has not reacted to the removal of the logo yet. However, he did tweet a few hours ago on Tuesday saying, "It is important for more people to come to work in San Francisco or the rest of the city can't survive."
His tweet comes a day after he shunned the likelihood of shifting 'X' headquarters from San Francisco.
On July 30, Musk tweeted saying, "Many have offered rich incentives for X (fka Twitter) to move its HQ out of San Francisco," adding, "Moreover, the city is in a doom spiral with one company after another left or leaving." Therefore, he added, "they expect X will move too."
"We will not, Musk stated clearly. He further said, "You only know who your real friends are when the chips are down," adding, "San Francisco, beautiful San Francisco, though others forsake you, we will always be your friend."
Many under this thread accused Musk of kicking the bluebird out. Some users even recommended a new logo where both X and the bird could be part of Twitter.
