A delegation from the EPS-95 National Agitation Committee met with senior officials of the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) on Tuesday. They pushed for a minimum monthly pension of Rs 7,500 and full medical coverage for EPS members and their spouses, according to a statement by the EPS-95 NAC.

The meeting was initiated by an invitation from the EPFO, aiming to address the pensioners' long-standing demands. "An invitation came to us from Employees Provident Fund Organisation EPFO for a meeting. The objective of the meeting was to resolve the pending demands of the pensioners," said Ashok Raut, President of EPS-95 NAC.
EPS-95 NAC's Persistent Demands
For eight years, pensioners have been advocating for an increase in the minimum pension. Currently, they receive an average monthly pension of only Rs 1,450. "The EPS-95 NAC members have been protesting to press for their demand of Rs 7,500 as monthly pension instead of an average monthly pension of only Rs 1,450 at present," Raut stated.
Earlier this month, Union Minister for Labour and Employment Mansukh Mandaviya met with representatives from EPS-95 NAC. He assured them that the government would take necessary steps to address their demands.
EPS-95 NAC's Reach and Influence
The EPS-95 NAC represents around 78 lakh retired pensioners and 7.5 crore working employees in industrial sectors. The organisation is headquartered in Maharashtra.
Raut mentioned that despite their persistent efforts over the years, the government has not yet addressed their demands for increased pensions. "Raut said the pensioners have been demanding an increase in the minimum pension for the past eight years, but the government has not addressed their demands."
The recent meeting with EPFO officials marks another step in their ongoing struggle to secure better financial and medical benefits for EPS members and their spouses.
The delegation's efforts reflect a broader push within India's industrial sectors to improve conditions for retired workers. The outcome of these discussions remains crucial for millions relying on these pensions.
The EPS-95 NAC continues to advocate tirelessly for its members, hoping that these meetings will lead to tangible improvements in their financial security and healthcare access.
