For the month of January 2022, the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) released monthly mutual fund statistics. Equity mutual funds saw a net inflow of Rs 14,888.77 crore in January, according to statistics published by the Association of Mutual Funds in India (Amfi). Flexi cap funds saw the highest positive inflow of Rs 2,527.16 crore, followed by Sectoral/Thematic Funds, which received Rs 2,072.91 crore. All other equity mutual funds, with the exception of Value Fund/Contra Fund, have seen positive inflows. The monthly SIP (systematic investment plan) contribution remained strong in January, reaching Rs 11,516.62 crore. According to AMFI, SIP AUM reached Rs 5,76,588 crore at the end of January, and the number of SIP accounts also surpassed the five-crore milestone.

The debt mutual fund, on the other hand, saw a net inflow of Rs 5,087.61 crore. Overnight funds saw the highest positive inflow of Rs 19,357.55 crore in the debt mutual fund category, followed by Money Market Fund with Rs 4,718.60 crore. Except for the Overnight Fund, Ultra Short Duration Fund, Money Market Fund, Long Duration Fund, and Floater Fund, all other funds in the debt category have seen negative inflows.
In January 2022, the hybrid scheme category saw a net inflow of Rs 6,229.79 crore. Dynamic Asset Allocation/Balanced Advantage Fund received the highest positive inflow of Rs 2,762.95 Cr in the hybrid category, followed by Balanced Hybrid Fund/Aggressive Hybrid Fund with a positive inflow of Rs 1,539.80 Cr. Except for the Equity Savings Fund, all other hybrid funds saw positive inflows in January.
According to the data of AMFI, the mutual fund industry's overall average net assets under management (AUM) increased to Rs 38,88,570.79 crore in January from Rs 37,91,810.92 crore in December 2021. In January, the average net AUM in the debt category amounted to Rs 14,62,229.76 crore and the net assets under management totaled Rs 14,13,344.85 crore. The average net assets under management (AUM) of equity mutual funds remained Rs 13,56,106.47 crore, while the net AUM stood Rs 13,37,964.51 crore.
