The eShram portal, a national database for informal sector workers, has surpassed 30 crore registrations within three years, the labour ministry announced on Monday. This milestone underscores the government's dedication to supporting unorganised workers nationwide, according to a statement from the labour ministry.

The Ministry of Labour & Employment (MoLE) launched the eShram portal on August 26, 2021. Since its inception, it has registered over 30 crore unorganised workers, demonstrating its swift and extensive adoption among this workforce. The government aims to establish the eShram portal as a comprehensive solution for unorganised workers across the country.
Integration with Other Portals
During the Budget speech for 2024-25, it was announced that the eShram portal would be integrated with other portals to create a One-Stop-Solution. This integration is intended to facilitate access to various social security schemes implemented by different Ministries and Departments through the eShram portal. The initiative aims to ensure seamless access to government schemes for unorganised workers.
The eShram-One Stop Solution will also help raise awareness about these schemes and identify potential beneficiaries who have not yet been reached. As part of this project, MoLE is working to integrate major schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), Pradhan Mantri Street Vendor’s Atmanirbhar Nidhi (PM-SVANidhi), Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G), and the Ration Card scheme.
Two-Way Integration with Skill India Digital Hub
A two-way integration between the Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH) and eShram will enable registrants on either platform to access services offered by both portals seamlessly. This integration aims to ensure that welfare scheme benefits reach all workers at the grassroots level, including health workers like ASHA and Anganwadi workers, as well as those in villages, Gram Panchayats, Sabhas, Parishads, and building and construction projects.
To achieve this goal, MoLE is holding regular inter-ministerial meetings with senior officers from various Ministries and Departments. These include the Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH), Department of Fisheries (DoF), National Health Authority (NHA), and State BOCW boards.
Efforts to Onboard Unorganised Workers
The respective Ministries and Departments have been requested to integrate their schemes with the eShram portal for the comprehensive development of unorganised workers. The Ministry of Labour and Employment has also approached different Ministries such as the Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), and Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) to register unorganised workers under their jurisdiction on the eShram portal promptly.
This collaborative effort aims to ensure that all unorganised workers, including those in health services and rural areas, are onboarded onto the eShram portal. By doing so, these workers can benefit from various social security schemes designed to support their welfare and development.
The achievement of crossing 30 crore registrations on the eShram portal highlights the significant impact of this initiative on India's unorganised workforce. The government's commitment to integrating various schemes through this platform ensures that unorganised workers have better access to essential services and support mechanisms.
