A container ship flying the Singapore flag, MV Wan Hai 503, experienced an explosion while heading to Mumbai. The incident occurred off Kerala's coast on Monday morning, as reported by PTI citing a Defence PRO. The blast was detected under the deck.
At approximately 10:30 am, the Maritime Operations Centre in Mumbai informed their Kochi counterparts about the explosion. The ship was travelling from Colombo to Nhava Sheva when the incident took place.

Response and Assistance
The Indian Coast Guard received a report stating that four crew members were missing and five others were injured following the explosion. The vessel had a total of 22 crew members on board and was transporting containerised cargo.
In response to the situation, several Coast Guard vessels were redirected to provide assistance. These included ICGS Rajdoot from New Mangalore, ICGS Arnvesh from Kochi, and ICGS Sachet from Agatti.
The Coast Guard's Defence Public Relations Officer confirmed these details. They mentioned that the Coast Guard Dornier aircraft was also tasked with assessing the situation further.
This incident highlights the importance of maritime safety and quick response in emergencies. The authorities are working diligently to ensure the safety of all crew members involved.
