FM Launches Mobile App for Union Budget 2021

On the occasion of Halwa Ceremony held on Saturday, the Finance Minister of India, Nirmala Sitharaman launched the 'Union Budget mobile app' for getting hassle-free access to the Budget documents to the members of Parliament (MPs) and the general public.

The app provides complete access to 14 Union Budget documents, demand for grants (DG), annual financial statement, finance bill and more as prescribed by the Constitution of India.

For the first time in the history of Budget sessions, this year the budget documents will not be printed owing to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

In an official statement released by the Finance Ministry, it notes that "the app has a user-friendly interface with embedded features of printing, downloading, zoom in and out, search, table of contents, bidirectional scrolling, external links and so on. It will be available in bilingual languages (English and Hindi). The app is available on both iOS and Android-based platforms".

The government has become tech-savvy with the introduction of the Budget documents in-app to the general public.

The budget documents will be available on the mobile app after the Finance Minister completes the presentation of the Budget Speech in the Parliament on February 1, 2021, the statement added.

The mobile app is developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) under the guidance of the department of economic affairs (DEA). This application can be downloaded from the Union Budget Web Portal at www.indiabudget.gov.in.
