The price of petrol stayed steady on Friday, but the price of diesel was raised across the country. Petrol costs Rs 101.19 per litre in Delhi, while diesel costs Rs 88.82 per litre, a rise of 20 paise.
In Mumbai, a litre of petrol costs Rs 107.26, while a litre of diesel costs Rs 96.41, a 22-paise increase.

A litre of petrol costs Rs. 98.96 in Chennai. The price of a litre of diesel on Friday was Rs 93.46 a litre, a rise of 08 paise.
Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri remarked a day before the diesel rate hike that petrol prices in the country aren't going down because states don't want to bring gasoline under the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
Puri claimed in a media interview that petrol prices in West Bengal have surpassed Rs 100 due to the TMC government's excessive taxation.
According to a pricing statement issued by state-run oil companies on September 24, diesel prices increased by 20 to 22 paise across the country. After July 15, prices were raised for the first time. The price of gasoline, on the other hand, has stayed steady for the 19th day in a row.
During this time, the price increase pushed petrol prices above Rs 100 per litre in more than half of the country, while diesel prices did so in at least three states.
Bharat Petroleum, Indian Oil, and Hindustan Petroleum, among others, alter the rates of petrol and diesel. Each day at 6 a.m., the new pricing goes into effect. Because of the many value-added taxes, local and freight charges that vary by location, fuel prices change between states and localities.
