Gold price in India today witnessed biggest jump in the month of August on weakened dollar and soaring expectations of interest rate cut from Federal Reserve in September meeting. Meanwhile, tensions in Middle East also pushed demand for the yellow metal. 22k gold prices today surged by Rs 1050 to settle at Rs 66,700/10 grams and 100 grams of 22 carat precious metal prices rallied by Rs 10,500 in India on Saturday. 24k gold prices today rallied by Rs 1150 to Rs 72,770/10 grams and 100 grams of 24 carat yellow metal prices gained 11,500 to Rs 7,27,700 on August 17, 2024.

18k gold prices today jumped by Rs 850 to Rs 54,570/10 grams and 100 grams of 18 carat yellow metal prices today rose by Rs 8,500 to Rs 5,45,700.

Spot Gold, Spot Silver Prices Today: Spot gold jumped 1.7% to $2,498.72 per ounce by 02:27 p.m. EDT (1827 GMT), after touching a record high of $2,500.99 earlier. U.S. gold futures rose 1.8% to $2,537.80. Bullion witnessed rally of 2.8% this week. Silver rallied 1.4% to $28.81 per ounce and platinum slipped 0.2% at $950.76. Palladium declined 0.1% to$943.25, according to Reuters.

Gold prices in India today witnessed sharp rally for second consecutive day by Rs 1050, surged by Rs 100 on August 16, stayed steady on August 15, slipped by Rs 100 on August 14, soared by Rs 950 on August 13, surged by Rs 250 on August 12, remained neutral on August 11, rallied by Rs 200 on August 10, surged by Rs 750 on August 9, and remained steady on August 8.

According to Reuters, ""Ongoing geopolitical strife and potential escalation that Iran could get involved, and the war in Ukraine, those factors all contribute to safe-haven demand for gold," said Everett Millman, chief market analyst with Gainesville Coins."

Meanwhile, U.S. Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell is expected to issue statement on the economic outlook next Friday.
