Gold Prices Today on New Year: Chennai Sees Dip, Bengaluru & Hyderabad Record Gains; Check Rates On Jan 1

With the beginning of the New Year, the gold rate today has rebounded after the recent crash that took the yellow metal below record levels. Gold rates this week remained volatile, with sharp ups and downs. However, in major South Indian cities such as Bengaluru and Hyderabad, gold prices fell sharply in three back-to-back sessions. But today, on New Year's, gold rates have registered a mild rise.

With the festive season around Christmas and New Year, demand for gold is expected to rise in the coming days. Additionally, the Hindu wedding season is set to resume in January 2026, which could provide a fresh boost to gold prices in the near term.

Gold Rate in Chennai Today

On 1st January, the 24-carat gold rate in Chennai fell by Rs. 10 per 10 grams to cost Rs. 136,140 per 10 grams. While the 22-carat gold prices in Chennai today slipped by Rs. 400 and are currently retailing at Rs. 124,400 per 10 grams. Similarly, the 18-carat gold rate today also declined by Rs 350 per 10 grams to cost Rs 103,750.

Gold rate in Bangalore today

In contrast to Chennai, the 22-carat gold rate in Bangalore jumped by Rs. 150 to Rs. 123,800 per 10 grams. Meanwhile, the 24-carat gold price in Bangalore stood at Rs. 135,060 per 10 grams after jumping by Rs. 170. The 18-carat gold is currently priced at Rs. 101,290 per 10 grams after rising by Rs. 120.

Gold rate in Hyderabad today

Gold prices in Hyderabad remained unchanged on Saturday, with 22-carat gold trading at Rs.123,000 per 10 grams. The rate of 24-carat gold stood at Rs. 134,180 per 10 grams, while 18-carat gold was priced at Rs. 100,640 per 10 grams.

"Gold and silver prices have witnessed profit bookings from the higher levels on the international bourses. We expect precious metals prices on Indian bourses to trade range-bound to lower for the day, as there will be a thin trading volume expected today in the Indian market." as per IBJA.

As per the latest Reuters commodity report, "Spot gold rose 0.8% to $4,364.70 per ounce at 2:07 p.m. ET (1907 GMT). Silver rose 7.3% to $77.48 per ounce."

Silver Prices in Chennai Today

Silver prices in Chennai today fell sharply for the fourth consecutive time, as 1 kg of silver in Chennai cost Rs 256,000 after slipping by Rs 1000. While 100 g of silver rates in India currently cost Rs 25,600.

Silver Prices in Bangalore Today

Similarly, Bangalore silver prices today also declined. On January 1st, 1 kg of silver in Bangalore cost Rs. 238,000, which fell by Rs. 1000. While 100 g of silver rates in India cost Rs 23,800.

Silver Prices in Hyderabad Today

The silver rate in Hyderabad today dropped by Rs. 1000/kg; as of January 1st, 1 kg of silver priced in Hyderabad retails at Rs. 256,000. While 100 g of silver rates in India cost Rs 25,600.
