Gold rates and silver rates in India dropped marginally in the opening bell of April 10 due to volatile global cues. MCX Gold Price is trading below Rs 1.53 lakh mark and has dropped by Rs 500-600 in the early trade. Meanwhile, MCX silver underperforms with more than Rs 1,260 or 0.52% decline, to struggle around RS 2,42,500.
The performance comes despite steady spot gold and spot silver. In the global market, spot gold is volatile but on track to hit its third consecutive weekly gains. Spot gold is currently above $4,760 per ounce. Meanwhile, spot silver price surged nearly 1% to trade near $76 per ounce level.
This is due to crude oil prices being under pressure. Both US WTI and Brent Crude are struggling between 96-97. The US dollar has also softened to near the 99 mark.
Both the precious metals are on track to see third consecutive weekly gains after the US-Iran ceasefire triggered selling pressure in crude oil prices and eased concerns of inflationary pressure and the probability of rate hikes in 2026.
The metal also drew support from a softer dollar, which had emerged as the leading safe-haven asset during the crisis. Investors turned their attention to upcoming diplomatic talks in Islamabad this weekend, where Vice President JD Vance is set to head a US delegation in meetings with Iranian officials, as per Trading Economics data.
Also, the Trading Economics data added, meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated that continued operations in Lebanon are not covered by the US-Iran ceasefire agreement, even as Washington plans to host further discussions next week involving Israel and Lebanon to advance broader truce efforts. US President Donald Trump also warned Iran over imposing transit fees in Hormuz, criticizing its handling of oil shipments.
GOLD and Silver crashed sharply in the second half of April 10th session on MCX. MCX gold extended decline by Rs 1,077 or 0.70% to trade at Rs 1,52,357 per 10 grams, while MCX silver price plunged by Rs 2,515 or 1.03% to Rs 2,41,253 per 1Kg.

Gold Rates & Silver Rates Today Live Updates: What Is Impacting Gold & Silver Prices Today?

These movements come after a recent rally in precious metals, as investors turned cautious amid a stronger US dollar and mixed global cues. Sentiment has also been influenced by ongoing geopolitical uncertainty, particularly around US–Iran tensions and concerns over potential disruptions in key oil supply routes, as per Gaurav Garg, research analyst at Lemonn markets desk.
