Banks across the country will remain closed on Friday, April 18, 2025, in observance of Good Friday, as a religious and public holiday. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) released a calendar of bank holidays, specifying that all major banks and financial institutions will suspend operations for the day. Therefore, if you are planning to visit any bank on this Friday, plan ahead because many banks will be closed tomorrow.
Good Friday on April 18: Bank Holiday Tomorrow
Good Friday is a public holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act, hence public and private sector banks will be closed on Friday. This closure affects physical banking services such as cash deposits, withdrawals, and branch consultations.

However, digital banking platforms-including UPI, net banking, ATMs, and mobile banking apps-will continue to function normally, enabling customers to carry out essential transactions without disruption.
The holiday on April 18 will be observed across the country, including in Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, West Bengal, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Goa, Nagaland, Mizoram, and other areas with significant Christian communities. In these states, Good Friday is traditionally observed as a public holiday, with government offices, schools, colleges, and most banks remaining closed.
Stock Market Holiday on April 18
In addition to banks and financial institutions, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) will also be closed on April 18, 2025, for the Good Friday holiday. Trading in the stock, derivatives, and SLB (Securities Lending and Borrowing) segments will be suspended for the day. According to the NSE and BSE trading holiday schedules for 2025, Good Friday is a stock market holiday.
