On Tuesday, the central government approved a draft inviting initial bids for a stake sale in Air India, according to a Mint report citing an unnamed senior official.

In a meeting, which was attended by government officials and ministers, further transfer of Air-India's debt of around Rs 60,000 crores to a special purpose vehicle was also approved. The SPV has already been transferred with Rs 29,400 crore so far.
An Economic Times report said that the committee was headed by home minister Amit Shah.
Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, commerce minister Piyush Goyal, aviation minister Hardeep Singh Puri and aviation secretary Pradeep Singh Kharola were also present at the meeting.
The report further said that the Expression of Interest (EoI) document in relation to the divest of government stake in the national carrier will be issued this month.
