Japanese-Indian JV Updates Odisha CM on Green Hydrogen Plant Progress

A joint delegation of a Japanese company and an Indian firm provided an update to Odishas Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on the progress of their proposed Rs 59,000-crore plant to produce green hydrogen and green ammonia in the state.

A joint delegation from a Japanese company and an Indian firm, which have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a Rs 59,000-crore plant in Odisha to produce green hydrogen and green ammonia, met with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday to discuss the progress of the proposed project.

ACME Clean Energy Limited and IHI Corporation

ACME Clean Energy Limited, an Indian company, has partnered with IHI Corporation, a Japanese engineering firm specializing in heavy machinery, aerospace equipment, shipbuilding, green hydrogen, and its derivatives, for this project.

Meeting with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik

A delegation from IHI Corporation, led by its President and CEO Hiroshi Ide, along with the ACME Clean Energy Limited team headed by its Chairman Manoj Upadhyay, met with Chief Minister Patnaik and other senior officials in Bhubaneswar on Monday. During the meeting, Patnaik, who had previously met with IHI officials in Japan in April 2023, encouraged the delegation to expand their green hydrogen and derivatives footprint globally.

Collaboration Opportunities

IHI Corporation and ACME signed the MoU to explore collaboration opportunities across the green hydrogen and ammonia value chain, including production, handling, transportation, distribution, and power generation.

ACME Group's Investment

The ACME Group plans to set up a large-scale production facility for green hydrogen and green ammonia at the Gopalpur Industrial Park with an investment of Rs 58,905 crore, creating employment opportunities for 3,700 people.

Manoj Upadhyay, Chairman of ACME Clean Energy Limited, expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the Department of Industries, and other stakeholders for their support in the company's green hydrogen and green ammonia project in Odisha.

IHI's Commitment

Speaking during the meeting, Hiroshi Ide, President of IHI Corporation, emphasized the company's commitment to green initiatives worldwide and expressed their aspiration to make Odisha the "Green Hydrogen Capital."
