GRM Overseas, a leading basmati rice company, has sold a portion of its stake in its subsidiary, GRM Foodkraft, to venture capital firm Sauce.vc. This strategic investment aims to leverage Sauce.vcs expertise in building new-age brands and expand GRM Foodkrafts presence in the domestic food market.

In a significant move, basmati rice company GRM Overseas announced on Monday that it has sold more than 3% stake in its subsidiary GRM Foodkraft to venture capital fund Sauce.vc for an undisclosed amount. This strategic investment marks a crucial step in GRM Foodkraft's growth trajectory, as it seeks to expand its domestic foods business and explore new opportunities in the packaged foods sector.
Strategic Partnership for Growth
Atul Garg, Managing Director of GRM Overseas Ltd., expressed enthusiasm about the partnership with Sauce.vc. He highlighted the wealth of experience and proven track record of the Sauce team in creating successful new-age brands. GRM Foodkraft aims to leverage this expertise to transform its brands into distinguished names within their respective product categories.
Expanding Horizons in Packaged Foods
The collaboration between GRM Foodkraft and Sauce.vc will focus on identifying emerging areas for launching new brands in the packaged foods segment. Additionally, the company intends to strengthen its presence in digital channels, including e-grocers, quick commerce, and e-commerce platforms. This strategic move aligns with GRM Foodkraft's commitment to rapidly scale and diversify its product portfolio, catering to evolving consumer preferences and market trends.
Strong Market Presence
GRM Foodkraft has established a robust presence across various retail channels, including online and offline retail as well as the direct-to-consumer (D2C) segment. With over 52 Distribution Centres (DCs) and a network serving more than 1,60,000 Kirana stores, the company has a wide reach in the Indian market. Furthermore, GRM operates three state-of-the-art rice processing units with a combined annual production capacity of 4,40,800 MT, located in Panipat (Haryana), Naultha (Haryana), and Gandhidham (Gujarat).
