Huge Drop in Gold Rate Today After 2-Day Rally, Silver Price Soars Rs 35,000/kg in Delhi on Holika Dahan 2026

Gold rates today saw a clear pullback on March 2, 2026, even as geopolitical tensions in the Middle East kept markets volatile ahead of Holi and Holika Dahan. After a sharp two-day rally, gold rates corrected in the domestic market, while silver surged strongly on festive demand.

In New Delhi, 24 Karat gold slipped to Rs 16,995 per gram, down Rs 328, while 22 Karat gold eased to Rs 15,580 per gram, a decline of Rs 300 compared with the previous session. The fall comes after gold had jumped sharply over the last two days, with 24 Karat gold gaining around Rs 1,15,100 per 100 grams, driven by safe-haven buying amid rising tensions involving Iran, Israel and the United States.

Silver prices, however, moved sharply higher ahead of the Holi festival. Silver rate in Delhi on March 2 jumped strongly, with prices touching Rs 3,300 per 10 grams, Rs 33,000 per 100 grams, and Rs 3,30,000 per kg, marking a steep Rs 35,000 per kg rise in a single day.

In the international market, gold continued to gain as investors sought safety. Gold prices rose more than 1% to trade above $5,370 per ounce, hitting a more-than-one-month high after joint US-Israel strikes on Iran over the weekend. US gold futures climbed 1.8% to $5,342.80 per ounce, according to Reuters. Meanwhile, spot silver slipped 1.2% to $92.72 per ounce, despite logging a solid monthly gain in February.

24 Karat Gold Rate Today in Delhi

24 Karat gold rate in Delhi today stood at Rs 16,995 per gram, slipping by Rs 328 compared with yesterday's price of Rs 17,323 per gram. For larger quantities, 24k gold on Monday is priced at Rs 1,35,960 for 8 grams, Rs 1,69,950 for 10 grams, and Rs 16,99,500 for 100 grams, marking a sharp fall of up to Rs 32,800 per 100 grams in a single day.

22 Karat Gold Rate Today in Delhi

22 Karat gold prices in Delhi also witnessed a decline on March 2. The rate eased to Rs 15,580 per gram, down Rs 300 from the previous session. Buyers are paying Rs 1,24,640 for 8 grams, Rs 1,55,800 for 10 grams, and Rs 15,58,000 for 100 grams, reflecting a daily drop of nearly Rs 30,000 per 100 grams.

18 Karat Gold Rate Today in Delhi

Meanwhile, 18 Karat gold followed the same trend, trading at Rs 12,750 per gram, lower by Rs 246 from yesterday. The price for 8 grams stands at Rs 1,02,000, 10 grams at Rs 1,27,500, and 100 grams at Rs 12,75,000, indicating a correction of Rs 24,600 per 100 grams.

Silver rate in Delhi today jumped to Rs 330 per gram, up by Rs 35 from yesterday's level of Rs 295 per gram. The strong momentum is clearly visible across quantities, with 8 grams priced at Rs 2,640, 10 grams at Rs 3,300, and 100 grams at Rs 33,000, reflecting gains of up to Rs 3,500 per 100 grams in a single day.

On a larger scale, silver prices per kilogram in Delhi soared to Rs 3,30,000, marking a massive Rs 35,000 jump from the previous session's Rs 2,95,000 per kg.

"Silver is participating in this shift too, though investors should bear in mind that its industrial demand component means it does not always move in lockstep with gold during every risk event," said Amit Suri, Mutual fund distributor & founder of AUM Wealth.
