Hyderabad witnessed a spectacular aerial display on 16 January as the three-day Hot Air Balloon Festival 2026 began, transforming the sky above Golconda Fort into a kaleidoscope of colours. The festival was inaugurated by State Tourism and Culture Minister Jupally Krishna Rao near Golconda Fort.

The Minister participated in a hot air balloon ride, covering nearly 13 km in one-and-a-half hours, taking off from the Golconda Golf Club and landing near Appajiguda.

Organised by Telangana Tourism, the festival will run from 16 to 18 January 2026 and offers visitors both scenic hot air balloon rides and shorter tethered experiences at key locations across the city.

The festival's main route started at the Hyderabad Golf Club and concluded at Appajiguda, offering panoramic views of the city's urban sprawl, historic landmarks, and iconic Golconda Fort.

Evening sessions, called Night Glow Balloon Shows, took place at the Parade Grounds in Secunderabad.

Tickets for the festival are priced at Rs 2,000 per person for morning balloon rides, which lasted approximately 30-40 minutes and covered 8-10 km. Evening tethered rides and Night Glow Shows generally had nominal fees, some as low as Rs 15 for spectators.

Spectator access for evening Night Glow sessions may or may not require tickets depending on the organiser's announcements, so attendees are advised to check local listings ahead of time.
