South Korean automotive giant Hyundai, through its Indian subsidiary Hyundai Motor India Engineering Pvt Ltd (HMIE), plans to set up a Mega Test Centre in Telangana, the state government announced on Monday. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, during his official visit to South Korea, met with Hyundai Motor Company officials in Seoul to discuss this investment.

Hyundai's Investment Plans
The Telangana government has been actively seeking major investments from global companies. During the meeting, the Chief Minister highlighted the state's industry-friendly policies and progressive vision. These factors have made Telangana an attractive destination for top-tier companies like HMIE.
The proposed Mega Test Centre will feature an automotive test track and a state-of-the-art test car manufacturing facility, including electric vehicles (EVs). This initiative is expected to draw other affiliates and suppliers to establish their facilities nearby, creating both direct and indirect employment opportunities.
Expansion of Existing Facilities
In addition to the new test centre, Hyundai Motor India Engineering Pvt Ltd is also renovating and modernising its existing engineering centre in Hyderabad. This expansion aims to generate more employment opportunities in India and the Asia Pacific region.
After discussions with Chief Minister Reddy and IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu, Hyundai confirmed its commitment to establishing the Mega Test Centre in Telangana. The state’s hassle-free permission system and world-class infrastructure were key factors in this decision.
The official release quoted Chief Minister Reddy as saying, "Telangana State’s industry-friendly policies, progressive and futuristic vision in creating world-class infrastructure and providing hassle-free permission system has enabled best-in-class companies like HMIE to do business in Telangana."
The establishment of the Mega Test Centre by Hyundai is a significant step towards boosting the automotive sector in Telangana. It reflects the state's efforts to attract substantial investments and create a conducive environment for business growth.
This development underscores Telangana's strategic approach to fostering economic growth by attracting global giants like Hyundai. The state's proactive measures are expected to yield long-term benefits for its economy and workforce.
