The World Air Transport Summit, organized by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), is set to take place in Dubai from June 2-4, drawing over 1,500 participants. This significant event, held for the first time in the United Arab Emirates and hosted by Emirates Airline, will convene industry leaders, government officials, and media representatives. The summit will occur following the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of IATA, which represents approximately 320 airlines, including those from India.

At the heart of discussions will be the exploration of artificial intelligence's potential within the aviation sector, alongside advancing sustainability through sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and carbon removal technologies. These topics are critical as the industry faces a complex array of challenges, including fluctuating energy markets, intricate geopolitical landscapes, and evolving supply chains and trade patterns.
The aviation sector's commitment to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050 will be a pivotal agenda item at the 80th IATA AGM and World Air Transport Summit. IATA Director General Willie Walsh emphasized the importance of accelerating progress towards this goal, particularly through enhancing SAF production and exploring carbon removal solutions.
The global aviation industry is a significant economic force, directly employing around 3 million individuals and facilitating USD 8.3 trillion in trade annually through air cargo. The discussions at the summit will not only focus on immediate challenges but also on long-term sustainability goals crucial for the industry's future.
