ICICI Prudential Life announced on Monday that it has streamlined the claim settlement process for those affected by the Wayanad landslide tragedy. The insurer stated that claims, including those under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), will be processed with just three essential documents.

The required documents include bank account numbers with IFSC codes or cancelled cheque copies, a death certificate issued by local municipal authorities, and valid KYC documents. If a death certificate is unavailable, lists of deceased issued by hospitals, government authorities, or police will be accepted.
Essential Documents for Claim Settlement
The basic KYC documents needed are a PAN card or Form 60, a recent photograph, and one of the following: Aadhaar card, passport, driving license, voter ID, NREGA Job card, or a letter from the National Population Register. These documents aim to simplify and expedite the claim process for nominees.
Amish Banker, Chief Operations Officer of ICICI Prudential Life Insurance, stated, "All claims arising due to this natural calamity will be quickly settled based on just three basic documents." This initiative is part of the company's effort to provide swift assistance to those impacted by the disaster.
Impact of Wayanad Landslide
The landslides in Wayanad's hills in Kerala last week resulted in numerous fatalities and injuries. The insurer's move to simplify the claim process is expected to bring some relief to the affected families during this difficult time.
By requiring minimal documentation, ICICI Prudential Life aims to ensure that beneficiaries can access funds without unnecessary delays. This approach highlights the company's commitment to supporting its policyholders in times of crisis.
The insurer's statement underscores the importance of having accessible and efficient processes in place for disaster-related claims. This measure is particularly crucial given the scale of destruction caused by natural calamities like landslides.
The initiative by ICICI Prudential Life reflects a broader trend among insurers to enhance customer service and responsiveness during emergencies. Simplifying claim procedures can significantly reduce the burden on affected families and expedite financial support.
In conclusion, ICICI Prudential Life's decision to streamline the claim settlement process for Wayanad landslide victims demonstrates a proactive approach to customer care. By focusing on essential documents, the insurer aims to provide timely assistance to those in need.
