Since IFSC codes are required by customers for NEFT/RTGS/IMPS transactions, this news is exclusively for Syndicate Bank customers. The IFSC codes and cheque books of the former Syndicate Bank are no longer in effect from today, since Canara Bank has urged Syndicate Bank customers to update the IFSC code of their bank branch on or before June 30, 2021. For the ease of the customers, Canara Bank has declared on its website that "Dear Customer, This is to inform that after the merger of Syndicate Bank with Canara Bank, all eSyndicate IFSC codes starting with SYNB have been changed. All the IFSC starting with SYNB will be disabled W.E.F 01.07.2021. We request you to inform the remitters (senders) to use only your new IFSC code starting with "CNRB" while sending NEFT/RTGS/IMPS, from now itself."

The new IFSC codes will start with CNRB rather than SYNB, and 10000 will require to be added to the erstwhile IFSC code. Bank account holders of Syndicate Bank can get the new IFSC code by visiting (canarabank.com/IFSC.html), by visiting the nearest bank branch, by sending SMS from their registered mobile number, or by contacting the customer care desk at 18004250018.
The bank also terminated the existing swift code for foreign exchange transactions used by former Syndicate Bank account holders. Regarding the same, Canara Bank has declared via its Twitter handle that "Swift Code of erstwhile Syndicate Bank (SYNBINBBXXX) which is used for sending or receiving SWIFT messages for Foreign Exchange transactions shall be discontinued w.e.f. 1st July 2021. All our customers are advised to use the SWIFT code (CNRBINBBBFD) for any of their Foreign Exchange needs."
For the betterment of the customers, Syndicate Bank has also issued FAQs via its twitter handle and said that "One Bank as Good as Two. Stronger Together. All Your Questions on Amalgamation Answered."
