As the January began, cold conditions are still prevailing in Karnataka, with district-wise minimum temperatures falling sharply over the last 24 hours. According to official data from IMD recorded between 8.30 AM on January 5 and 7.30 AM on January 6, 2026, several districts in the state reported single-digit minimum temperatures, while Bengaluru weather today is expected to be colder as the mercury falls by another 2°C in the next 48 hours.

The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC), citing inputs from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), said "dry weather is likely to continue across the state, accompanied by chilly mornings, scattered fog, and below-normal minimum temperatures in many regions."
District-Wise Minimum Temperatures Recorded in Karnataka
The coldest night was reported in Vijayanagara, which recorded a minimum temperature of 9.7°C, followed closely by Chikkamagaluru at 9.9°C. Several districts in north and central Karnataka recorded temperatures around or slightly above 10°C, highlighting the spread of winter chill across the state.
Districts such as Uttara Kannada, Dharwad, Koppala, Belagavi, Shivamogga, Bagalkote, Bidar, Gadag and Haveri saw minimum temperatures ranging between 10°C and 10.7°C. Interior districts including Tumakuru, Davanagere, Kolar, Kalaburagi, Chikkaballapura and Hassan recorded lows between 11°C and 12°C.
Meanwhile, Kodagu (12.6°C), Raichur (12.6°C), Mysuru (12.8°C) and Yadgir (13.1°C) also experienced chilly early morning conditions. Bengaluru Rural recorded 13.3°C, while Bengaluru South saw 13.9°C. The Bengaluru Urban region reported a comparatively higher minimum of 15.2°C, though temperatures are expected to dip further.
Coastal districts remained relatively warmer, with Dakshina Kannada recording 17.5°C and Udupi at 17.7°C.
Bengaluru Weather Forecast: Colder Days Ahead
Bengaluru weather has received a warning from the weather department as residents should expect colder mornings, as minimum temperatures are likely to fall by 2-3°C below normal over the next two days. Morning fog and misty conditions may reduce visibility during early hours, particularly in open and low-lying areas.
Despite the chill, no rainfall is forecast for Bengaluru, and dry weather is expected to prevail through the week.
Karnataka Weather Forecast for Next 7 Days
As per the IMD forecast, Karnataka weather is expected to remain dry with Morning chill and scattered foggy conditions are likely, especially in south interior Karnataka, where minimum temperatures may remain normal to slightly below normal.
However, rainfall is expected in parts of the Malnad region on January 9 and January 10, offering brief relief from the dry spell. Districts in the Western Ghats may see light to moderate showers during this period.
Districts in north interior Karnataka, including Bidar, Belagavi, Bagalkot, Vijayapura, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Koppal, Raichur, Yadgir, Kalaburagi, Ballari, Chitradurga and Davanagere, are expected to witness cloudy yet dry weather conditions.
