India AI Impact Summit: US, UK, Canada, China, Among 86 Countries To Sign Declaration, Says IT Min Vaishnaw

India AI Impact Summit 2026: As the AI Summit drew to a close on Friday, as many as 86 countries and two international organisations, including the US, UK, Canada and China, emerging as the key signatories to AI Impct Summit Declaration, said IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, reported PTI on Saturday, February 21.

Two international orgamisations also signed the India AI Impact Summit declaration. Several country representatives across the world formalised and upheld principles of 'welfare of all, and happiness of all.'

India's AI vision has been accepted by the world, and several nations have agreed to prioritise economic growth and social good in the tech revolution, said Vaishnaw.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi's human-centric AI vision been accepted by the world.

Democratising Artificial Intelligence resources so AI facilities, services and technology can reach everyone in society has been accepted by all," the minister said.Balancing economic growth with social good has been prioritised, he added."Not just economic growth, even social harmony has to be kept in mind. Safety and trust are at the centre, they have been brought among the main points," PTI quoted Vaishnaw as saying.

India AI Impact Summit secured investment commitments of over $250 billion in infrastructure alone, and Ashwini Vaishnaw termed it as a "grand success".

"For all these areas, all countries have agreed to work together. Almost all countries that participated, including the US, the UK, Canada, China, Denmark, Egypt, Indonesia, and Germany... everyone has participated," the minister said.

The first-of-its kind AI summit was attended by a host of key dignitaries including OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, President & Vice Chair, Microsoft Brad Smith, President & CEO, Ericsson Group Borje Ekholm, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) & Managing Director, HCLTech C Vijayakumar, etc.

The high-profile event, hosted by Delhi, gathered several global tech leaders this week, signalling strong interest in India's digital ambitions. Top executives attending included Google's Sundar Pichai, OpenAI's Sam Altman, Microsoft's Brad Smith and Anthropic's Dario Amodei. Their meetings focused on AI opportunities, associated risks, AGI, governance and future jobs.

Alongside these talks, investment pledges have crossed USD 250 billion for infra-related capital, with around USD 20 billion committed to VC and deep tech investments. Vaishnaw had said that the Summit reflected the world's confidence in India's role in the new AI age.

While India AI Impact Summit drew attention at a global level, the event was marred by controversies like Galgotias alleged fake claim of developing a robotic dog, which was originally made by a Chinese company. The last day of AI Impact Summit saw protest by Youth Congress activists, where they tricked their way into Bharat Mandapam and briefly raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
