Union communications minister Jyotiraditya Scindia stated on Monday that despite intense market competition, the postal department will consistently provide prompt services to citizens. Speaking at the release of commemorative postage stamps for the 23rd Olympic Games in Paris, Scindia emphasised the postal service's role as a public service that resonates with people's hearts.

Postal Service Amidst Modern Competition
Scindia highlighted that in today's modern world, competition exists not only in sports but also in postal services. He acknowledged that many tasks are now performed via phone and email. However, he assured that through technology and innovation, the postal department would continue to offer timely services to citizens.
At the event, Scindia, along with youth affairs and sports minister Mansukh Mandaviya, honoured bronze medal winner Sarabjot Singh from the Paris Olympics, former cricketer Akash Chopra, and steeplechase athlete Sudha Singh. The ministers facilitated these athletes for their contributions and achievements.
Commemorative Stamps for Paris 2024 Olympics
Scindia unveiled commemorative postage stamps for the Paris 2024 Olympics featuring Javelin Throw, field hockey, sailing, and table tennis. "These postal stamps will become the history of our sporting legacy," he said. He expressed pride in the fact that 38 sets of postal stamps have been issued over the last 56 years to promote sports.
Mandaviya mentioned that a contingent of 117 athletes has travelled to the Paris Olympics. He noted that only six government officials accompanied them to manage arrangements. "There was a time when more people other than players used to travel. This time only six government officials have gone and they are busy working for players," he said.
Scindia also praised Indian sports stars for elevating the country's name on a global stage and making significant marks in their respective fields. He reiterated the importance of recognising and encouraging sports through initiatives like commemorative stamps.
The event underscored the government's commitment to supporting athletes and promoting sports culture in India. The release of these stamps serves as a tribute to the hard work and dedication of Indian athletes competing on international platforms.
The ceremony concluded with a reaffirmation of the postal department's dedication to serving citizens efficiently amidst evolving technological landscapes.
