Union Minister of State for Defence, Sanjay Seth, recently highlighted India's economic progress. He stated that India has now become the world's fourth-largest economy, surpassing Japan with a GDP of four trillion dollars. Seth expressed confidence that India would rise to the third position by 2027, a significant achievement for the country's 140 crore citizens.

Former Union minister and ex-Jharkhand chief minister Arjun Munda attributed this economic milestone to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. Munda noted that global financial institutions have projected India's growth rate to remain between 6-7 per cent. This steady growth is seen as a testament to the government's effective economic policies.
Economic Growth and Future Prospects
Sanjay Seth emphasised that many economists had predicted India would become the third-largest economy within five to ten years. However, he confidently asserted that this goal would be achieved by 2027. This optimism reflects the government's commitment to accelerating economic development and enhancing India's global standing.
Seth also discussed national security, recalling Prime Minister Modi's strong stance against terrorism following the Pahalgam attack. He mentioned that the Indian Army had effectively responded to these threats, demonstrating the government's resolve in maintaining national security.
Infrastructure and Connectivity Challenges
Vijay Anand Moonka, president of the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), raised concerns about infrastructure in the steel city. He urged for improved rail and air connectivity, noting that investment opportunities were being hindered by the lack of an airport. Moonka's appeal highlights the need for better infrastructure to support industrial growth.
Seth advocated for "one nation, one election," suggesting it could lead to significant cost savings. He proposed that these savings could be redirected towards building hospitals, colleges, and other infrastructure projects. This idea aims to streamline electoral processes while enhancing public services.
The celebration of SCCI's platinum jubilee provided a platform for discussing these critical issues. The event underscored India's economic achievements and future aspirations under current leadership. As India continues its upward trajectory, these discussions highlight both accomplishments and areas needing attention.
