The rapid evolution of technology is reshaping employment worldwide, with Indian workers leading in technological adaptation in the Global South. This was highlighted in a report presented at a global conference. India's job market is dynamic, integrating artificial intelligence, machine learning, and automation. This proactive approach is driven by these technological advancements, as stated by the organisers on Monday.

India's Role in Technological Adaptation
The report, titled "Navigating Tomorrow: Mastering Skills in a Dynamic Global Labour Market," emphasises India's crucial role in the Global South's response to AI and automation. It highlights Indian workers as leaders in skill development and technological adaptation. The Global Labour Market Conference (GLMC) is recognised as the leading forum for workforce development and labour market insights.
Indian workers are meeting the challenges of a technology-driven era. While global trust in governments for upskilling support is low at 20%, Indian respondents show higher confidence at 31%. Saudi Arabian respondents also demonstrate significant trust at 35%, according to insights from the report.
Trust in Businesses and Reskilling Concerns
Indian respondents express 49% trust in businesses, highlighting the private sector's role in workforce development. The urgency to reskill due to technological advancements is a shared concern among Indian workers. About 55% fear their skills may become obsolete within five years, aligning with global trends.
In Brazil, 61% share this concern, while 60% do so in China. In contrast, developed markets like the UK and Australia show lower levels of concern at 44% and 43%, respectively. The second edition of the Global Labour Market Conference will be held at the King Abdulaziz International Convention Center in Riyadh on January 29-30, 2025.
The report underscores India's pivotal position in adapting to technological changes. Indian workers are seen as frontrunners in skill development, reflecting their proactive stance towards evolving job market demands.
