After a rangebound trade, indices in the afternoon trade logged fresh record highs of 46704.97 on the Sensex and 13692.35 on the Nifty. However, at the close Sensex ended with gains of 403.29 points or 0.87% at 46666.46, while Nifty gained 0.85 percent or 115 points to 13682.7. Nifty realty jumped the most by as much as 5% on FM's comments on sustaining expenditure on infra sector, followed by Nifty metal and Nifty Auto. While broader markets outperformed the headline indices.

Among top gainers in trade today have been HDFC, Hindalco, Titan Company, Bharti Airtel, Divis Labs, while losers in trade were GAIL, ICICI Bank, NTPC,Tech Mahindra and UltraTech Cement.
PSU Bank pack came under pressure after the Supreme Court began hearing on the interest waiver case for the sixth month loan moratorium period.
From the PSU stocks Hindustan Copper continues its winning streak, the stock gained 16% and hit 52-week high price of Rs. 60.40 on the NSE.
Another sector which remained in focus and gained on anticipation of higher demand going forward has been readymade garment and apparel stocks. Stocks such as TCNS Clothing, Page Industries, Dollar Industries, Bombay Dyeing, Monte Carlo surged between 5 and 14%.
Meanwhile, European indices traded on a strong note with German DAX up 1.55% at the time of writing this copy.
