The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced that eight chambers from Indo-Pacific countries have agreed on forming an association named AIPCC. This non-political, non-governmental body aims at enhancing regional trade and commerce which accounts for nearly USD 47 trillion annually. The initiative received a proactive response at the Indo Pacific Economic Conclave.
In a significant development that promises to bolster trade and commerce in the Indo-Pacific region, eight chambers of commerce from various countries have agreed to collaborate under a unified platform. This collaborative effort is expected to stimulate economic activities in the region which already accounts for nearly USD 47 trillion annually.

The proposal for this association was introduced at the Indo-Pacific Economic Conclave and received an enthusiastic response. The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), one of the leading proponents of this initiative, expressed optimism about its potential impact on regional trade and commerce.
India's Role in Global Economic Affairs
As India continues to assert its leadership role in global economic affairs, as evidenced by its G20 presidency, it is also taking proactive steps towards fostering regional cooperation. "We mooted a proposal for a common platform called the Association of Indo-Pacific Chambers of Commerce (AIPCC), and we received a proactive response," said BCCI Director-General Subhodip Ghosh.
A Non-Political, Non-Governmental Body
Ghosh further clarified that AIPCC will function as a non-political, non-governmental body that aims to connect chambers across national boundaries. By doing so, it intends to create an environment conducive for businesses and Micro Small Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Furthermore, this initiative strives to drive prosperity and opportunity for all common stakeholders involved.
Participating Chambers
The participating chambers include ASEAN-India Business Council; Bhutan Chamber of Commerce & Industry; Nepal-India Chamber of Commerce & Industry; Thailand-India Business Council; The Chittagong Chamber of Commerce & Industry; Indian Business Chamber in Vietnam; Indo-Australian Chamber of Commerce among others.
This confluence represents diverse economies ranging from emerging markets like India and Vietnam to developed economies like Australia. The initiative not only highlights the importance of regional cooperation in a globalized economy but also underscores India's growing influence in shaping economic policies.
In conclusion, the formation of the Association of Indo-Pacific Chambers of Commerce (AIPCC) marks an important step towards strengthening regional trade and commerce. By providing a platform for collaboration among various chambers, it aims to enhance business opportunities and drive prosperity across borders. This development is also indicative of India's proactive role in leading initiatives that foster economic cooperation on a regional level.
