The Middle East tensions continue to heighten with Israel and Iran exchanging fresh rounds of strikes against each other. However, trading on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange is closed on Friday and Saturday, and the reason is not Iran's missile attack on the exchange's building in the capital city of Israel.
The reason why investors cannot trade in Israel stocks on its mainboard is because the market is generally closed from Friday and Saturday. The Israeli exchanges closed the trading week from June 15 to June 19, with fresh record performance.

Tel Aviv Stock Exchange:
The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, which is the only public stock exchange in Israel, is not open for trading every Friday and Saturday of the week. Hence, the Israeli trading market is closed from June 20 to June 21. In general terms, the Israeli market is open from Sunday to Thursday and is not open on Friday because it is a short workday. Apart from this, TASE is also not operating during Israeli national and religious holidays.
On June 19, Israeli exchanges touched new records.
1. TA-35 Index: This is an Israeli index, showing the performance of 35 large companies that are listed on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. TA 35 closed at 2,834.31, up by 1.03% after hitting a new record high of 2,851.38. YTD, this index is up by 18%.
2. TA 125 Index: This index includes the 125 most highly capitalised companies listed on the exchange. TA-125 index jumped 1% to close at 2,868.81, after hitting a new all-time high of 2,882.20.
3. TA 90 Index: This is another index of Israel and it also touched a new all-time high of 3,022.57 on June 19. The index ended at 3,016.81, up by 1%.
4. TASE-IL: This is the biggest index of Tel Aviv and it touched a new all-time high of 6,345 on Thursday, before closing at 6,137, up 1.3%.
Israeli indexes skyrocketed with strong buying despite reports that an Iranian missile had hit the Tel Aviv Stock Building on June 19. Apart from this, an Iranian missile also hit Soroka Hospital in Be'er Sheva in the south of Israel; however, no casualties have been reported as of now.
After the latest attacks, especially on the hospital, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, "We will exact the full price from the tyrants in Tehran." He also confirmed controlling the skies of Iran. The latest feud with Iran is called an 'Am Klavya' operation by Israel on the Islamic regime's nuclear and military sites.
The latest report suggests that US President Donald Trump has called for unconditional surrender of IRAN. He also hinted at deciding US involvement in the Iran-Israel conflict within two weeks.
Also, European foreign ministers were meeting with Iranian officials in Geneva on Friday to press them to de-escalate and to offer a rollback of Tehran's nuclear activities. Speaking ahead of the gathering, Iran's foreign minister decried what he called Israel's "merciless act of aggression" against his country, as per The Wall Street Journal report.
Noteworthily, Israeli exchanges have been on a winning streak since October 7, 2023, when Hamas carried out the worst terrorist attack on Israeli soil since the Holocaust, killing over 1,300 innocent citizens. Since October 7th, Israel has been at war with Hamas on Gaza soil, while exchanging heavy strikes with Iran and its proxy Hezbollah in Lebanon. Hamas is also a proxy of Iran. From October 8, 2023, to June 19, 2025 record high levels, TASE-IL skyrocketed by at least 218.84%.
Reason Behind Iran-Israel Conflict:
Since late 19980s, as per Wikipedia, Iranian Islamists have long championed the Palestinian people, whom they perceive as oppressed. Scholars believe that by supporting the Palestinians, Iran seeks greater acceptance among Sunnis and Arabs, both of whom dominate the Middle East. At times, Iran has supported the one-state and the two-state solution as a response to the plight of Palestinians, while the country has also used more inflammatory language to predict Israel's demise. Israel sees Iran as an existential threat. Israel has accused Iran of harbouring genocidal intentions, while Iran has accused Israel of conducting genocide in Gaza. Consequently, Israel has sought sanctions and military action against Iran to stop it from acquiring nuclear weapons.
