US President Donald Trump has announced a ceasefire between Israel and Iran amidst ongoing hostilities. This unexpected declaration includes a detailed peace plan and highlights Qatar's role in mediating discussions. Despite initial confusion, Trump expresses optimism for lasting peace in the region.
US President Donald Trump unexpectedly announced a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, leaving many puzzled. The announcement came while both nations were still engaged in missile exchanges. On his social media platform, Trump claimed, "Israel & Iran came to me, almost simultaneously, and said, 'PEACE!' I knew the time was NOW. The World, and the Middle East, are the real WINNERS!"
Trump's declaration caught even his aides off guard. The White House later acknowledged Qatar's ruler Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's role in facilitating the ceasefire. Despite Trump's prior conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel was taken aback during its ongoing strikes. Iran took three hours to confirm the agreement through state media.

Ceasefire Details and Reactions
The ceasefire plan outlined by Trump included a detailed timetable. He stated that Iran would initiate the ceasefire, followed by Israel after 12 hours. After 24 hours, an official end to what he termed "THE 12 DAY WAR" would be celebrated globally. Trump expressed confidence in both nations' ability to maintain peace.
In his posts, Trump praised both countries for their resilience and intelligence in ending the conflict. He wrote, "On the assumption that everything works as it should, which it will, I would like to congratulate both Countries, Israel and Iran." He emphasized that this war could have devastated the Middle East but now had a peaceful resolution.
Trump's Perspective on Iran's Actions
Trump downplayed Iran's missile attacks on US interests in the region. He described them as "weak" and suggested Tehran had warned Washington in advance to prevent casualties. "Iran has officially responded to our Obliteration of their Nuclear Facilities with a very weak response," he noted.
He further mentioned that 14 missiles were fired by Iran; 13 were intercepted while one posed no threat. Trump expressed relief that no Americans were harmed and thanked Iran for providing early notice of their actions.
Conclusion of Trump's Peace Initiative
Despite not being known for religious or pacifist inclinations, Trump concluded his peace efforts with religious invocations: "God bless Israel, God bless Iran, God bless the Middle East." His posts also hinted at convincing Iran to de-escalate first before encouraging Israel to follow suit.
The unexpected ceasefire announcement left many questioning its longevity and effectiveness. However, Trump's optimistic tone suggested hope for lasting peace between Israel and Iran.
