In a disappointing market debut, shares of Jana Small Finance Bank fell more than 11% on Wednesday, closing significantly lower than the issue price of Rs 414. The stock listed at Rs 396 per scrip, marking a 4.35% discount on both the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). During the day, it reached a low of Rs 365 on both exchanges.

Closing Prices and Market Performance
At the close of the trading session, Jana Small Finance Bank's shares settled at Rs 367.50 apiece on the NSE, indicating an 11.23% decline. On the BSE, the scrip dropped by 11.06% to close at Rs 368.20 per share. Despite the bank's lackluster performance, the broader market managed to recover and ended the day with gains.
Trading Volume and Market Valuation
In terms of trading volume, 55.74 lakh equity shares were traded on the NSE, while 2.95 lakh shares were exchanged on the BSE. At the close of the session on the BSE, the company's market valuation stood at Rs 3,851.01 crore.
IPO Subscription and Fund Utilization
Jana Small Finance Bank's initial public offering (IPO), based in Bengaluru, received an impressive 18.50 times subscription on the final day of the share sale on February 9. The bank intends to utilize the funds raised from the fresh issue to bolster its core capital, ensuring it meets future capital requirements and enhances its capital adequacy ratio.
Market Performance on Wednesday
In contrast to Jana Small Finance Bank's disappointing debut, the broader market witnessed a positive trend on Wednesday. The 30-share Sensex on the BSE surged by 267.64 points or 0.37% to close at 71,822.83 points. Similarly, the NSE Nifty gained 0.45% to settle at 21,840.05 points.
