Telecom operators Jio and Airtel have announced relief measures for customers in Jammu and Kashmir affected by heavy rains. These include a three-day validity extension for prepaid users and grace periods for postpaid bills, ensuring continued connectivity during this challenging time.
Telecom companies, including Reliance Jio and Airtel, have introduced relief measures for customers impacted by severe weather in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh. These measures include a three-day validity extension for prepaid users whose plans expire this week and a grace period for postpaid bill payments. This initiative aims to ensure uninterrupted connectivity during the challenging weather conditions.

Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia announced on X that Intra-Circle Roaming (ICR) has been activated in Jammu & Kashmir. "My thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by the heavy rains and landslides in Jammu & Kashmir. To ensure people remain connected during this tough time, @DoT_India has activated Intra-Circle Roaming ICR, allowing users to latch on to any available network," Scindia stated.
Relief Measures by Jio
A Jio spokesperson highlighted the company's commitment to maintaining critical connectivity in most areas. They acknowledged the importance of reliable communication for accessing emergency services and staying in touch with family. To support users, Jio is offering a three-day validity extension for prepaid mobile and JioHome subscribers with expiring plans this week.
Jio's measures include unlimited voice calls and 2GB of high-speed data per day at no extra cost for mobile users. JioHome subscribers will also benefit from an additional three days of their last valid plan without any extra charges. Postpaid mobile and JioHome users will receive a three-day grace period for bill payments to prevent service disruptions.
Airtel's Support Initiatives
Airtel has also announced special measures to assist customers in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh, where extreme weather has disrupted telecom services. Prepaid customers with plans expiring this week will receive a three-day extension with unlimited calls and 1GB of data per day, even if they cannot recharge.
Airtel stated that postpaid and broadband customers would be granted a three-day grace period on bill payments to ensure continuous service. The company emphasised the importance of staying connected during these difficult times. Airtel's teams are actively working on restoring services as quickly as possible.
Intra-Circle Roaming (ICR) has been enabled in Jammu, Kashmir, and Himachal Pradesh, allowing customers to connect through other available networks. This measure ensures that users can maintain communication despite the adverse weather conditions affecting telecom infrastructure.
The relief efforts by Reliance Jio and Airtel aim to provide essential connectivity solutions during severe weather events. By extending service validity and offering grace periods for payments, these telecom operators are helping affected residents stay connected with minimal disruption.
