JioStar's TATA IPL 2025: A Year of Firsts report, released at the APOS conference in Bali, highlights the tournament's unprecedented success. The event saw record-breaking viewership and engagement, with JioStar enhancing the IPL experience across various platforms. This season was marked by innovative approaches that connected fans, brands, and partners more deeply than ever before.
JioStar's approach to broadcasting the IPL was rooted in user-centric design thinking. They crafted personalized viewing experiences across devices and languages, ensuring every screen felt personal and inclusive. This strategy not only enhanced fan engagement but also provided new opportunities for advertisers and distribution partners through flexible solutions and measurable outcomes.

Record-Breaking Reach
The TATA IPL 2025 achieved a total reach of 1.19 billion viewers, with 537 million on TV and 652 million on digital platforms. The final match alone attracted 426 million viewers, split between TV and digital. JioHotstar saw significant growth, reaching 300 million subscribers with over a billion app downloads on Android devices.
Connected TV reached 235 million viewers, while mobile phones accounted for 417 million. The tournament amassed an impressive watch-time of 514 billion minutes overall, with Star Sports HD drawing in 129 million viewers. Women made up 47% of the audience on Star Sports.
Engagement Innovations
MaxView 3.0 was utilised by 30% of mobile viewers, offering a vertical viewing experience with swiping features for key moments and alternate angles. Regional language feeds saw substantial growth, with Telugu increasing by 87% and Tamil by 52%. Social interactions reached a staggering 3.83 billion.
The 'Jeeto Dhan Dhana Dhan' play-along game captivated 44% of mobile viewers, adding to the interactive experience. These innovations contributed to making TATA IPL one of the most engaging seasons yet.
Technological Advancements
TATA IPL 2025 introduced several technological advancements that enriched the viewing experience. Multi-Cam options allowed fans to switch between different camera feeds in high resolution on JioHotstar. Additionally, fans could enjoy matches in immersive 360-degree views or Virtual Reality using devices like JioDive.
Voice-assisted search on Connected TV enabled hands-free navigation, while AI-powered match highlights were available shortly after games ended. Real-time AI translations made expert commentary accessible across languages, enhancing inclusivity for diverse audiences.
Brand Participation
This year marked a significant increase in advertiser participation on JioStar, with over 425 advertisers involved and more than 270 debutants across various categories. Brands leveraged Nielsen's third-party measurement to maximise their reach during the tournament.
The introduction of Free Ad-supported Streaming TV (FAST) channels dedicated to TATA IPL offered continuous cricket content without requiring subscriptions. This innovation further expanded access to cricket enthusiasts worldwide.
The success of TATA IPL is not just measured by numbers but by memorable moments shared among millions of fans globally. Sanjog Gupta from JioStar emphasised that this season blurred lines between sport and storytelling while fostering deep fan connections through creative broadcasting strategies.
