The JSW Group has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Odisha to establish an Integrated Electric Vehicles (EV) and EV Battery Manufacturing Project. The venture, with an estimated investment of Rs 40,000 crore, is set to be located in the cities of Cuttack and Paradip, promising to make a substantial impact on job creation and innovation.
The primary objective of this comprehensive project is to contribute to the country's green energy initiatives by setting up a state-of-the-art 50 GWH Electric Vehicle battery plant. This facility is expected to play a pivotal role in meeting the rising demand for electric vehicles and sustainable energy solutions in the coming years.

The proposed investment is not only a significant boost for the green energy sector but also aims to generate over 11,000 job opportunities, providing a much-needed impetus to the local economy. The employment prospects will range across various skill levels, from manufacturing and engineering to research and development, creating a diverse range of opportunities for the people of Odisha.
The Integrated Electric Vehicles and EV Battery Manufacturing Project extend beyond just battery production. It includes the manufacturing of Electric Vehicles, establishing a Lithium refinery, setting up a Copper smelter, and initiating related component manufacturing units. This holistic approach is designed to create a self-sustaining ecosystem that caters to the entire electric vehicle value chain.
Shri Naveen Patnaik, the Chief Minister of Odisha, expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, "We are keenly focused on leveraging the opportunities presented by the new age sectors, aiming to create high-skill job opportunities for the people of Odisha. Through our collaboration with JSW Group, we are setting the stage for a future where innovation drives our industrial growth, ensuring that the youth of Odisha have access to the skills and jobs that will define the next generation of economic development."
Shri Sajjan Jindal, Chairman of JSW Group, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the creation of a symbiotic relationship with Odisha's vibrant ecosystem. "By integrating our operations within Odisha's vibrant ecosystem, we aim to create a symbiotic relationship that benefits all stakeholders, fostering growth and innovation, and generating numerous high-skilled job opportunities," said Jindal.
The partnership between JSW Group and the Odisha government not only signifies a strategic alignment towards green energy but also reflects a commitment to sustainable industrial growth. The project's emphasis on Electric Vehicle manufacturing, battery production, and related component units aligns with the global shift towards clean and sustainable transportation solutions.
