The film's narrative depth and strong cultural ties have struck a chord with audiences beyond linguistic and regional boundaries.

Kantara: Chapter 1 Among Highest Grossing Indian Films; Beats Brahmastra and 3 Idiots
With a cumulative domestic collection exceeding Rs 300 crore in its first week, and overseas performance contributing to a worldwide total of over Rs 450 crore, Kantara Chapter 1 has already outpaced the lifetime box office numbers of major Bollywood blockbusters like Brahmastra Part One (Rs 431 crore) and 3 Idiots (Rs 450 crore). It now ranks among the highest-grossing Indian films of all time.
The film's cross-regional appeal is evident from occupancy rates recorded on October 8, 2025, which show significant audience turnout across language versions. As figures shown at Sacnilk, Kannada led with 55.73%, followed by Tamil (35%), Malayalam (28.6%), Telugu (23.83%) and Hindi (16.41%).
Produced by Vijay Kiragandur and Chaluve Gowda under Hombale Films, Kantara Chapter 1 also features performances by Rukmini Vasanth, Gulshan Devaiah, and Jayaram. With a strong word-of-mouth campaign and widespread critical acclaim, the film has seen remarkable success at the box office across multiple languages.
As the film heads into its second weekend, trade analysts are watching closely to see whether Kantara Chapter 1 can maintain momentum and potentially aim for the elusive Rs 1000-crore mark, a milestone reached by only a few Indian films in history.
