Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah assured Foxconn of full support from his government, urging the company to increase its investments in the state. During a dinner meeting with Young Liu, CEO and Chairman of Hon Hai Technology Group Foxconn, Siddaramaiah highlighted the state's advantages for electronics manufacturing.

Foxconn's Expanding Investments
Foxconn is establishing an iPhone assembly plant, Project Elephant, in Karnataka. The company has acquired 300 acres in the ITIR Industrial Area, Doddaballapura and Devanahalli Taluk of Bengaluru Rural District. This Rs 22,000 crore project is expected to create over 50,000 jobs. Construction is progressing well, with necessary license approvals being secured by the Commerce & Industries Department.
Siddaramaiah emphasised Karnataka's strengths in the Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) sector. He noted that several leading ESDM players operate within the state, contributing significantly to India's electronics manufacturing output and exports. The Chief Minister also pointed out the state's efficient logistics, reliable power supply, skilled workforce, and resilient vendor base as key advantages.
Support for Diverse Sectors
During the meeting, Siddaramaiah encouraged Foxconn to consider investing in other sectors such as the fab industry. He expressed his commitment to deepening the collaborative relationship between Foxconn and Karnataka. "This partnership is of immense importance, and I am honoured to be part of an initiative that holds such significant potential for mutual growth and success," he stated.
Young Liu responded positively to the Chief Minister's invitation for further investment. "Our investment will not stop here; in the future, we plan to explore other sectors also," Liu said. He added that the unit in Karnataka would soon become Foxconn's second-largest plant after China’s unit, creating 40,000 direct jobs.
Employment Opportunities and Economic Growth
Siddaramaiah expressed pleasure at the substantial employment opportunities Foxconn's project would create within Karnataka. He noted that this would boost the local economy and empower the workforce, enhancing regional prosperity. "It gives me immense pleasure to note that your project will create substantial employment opportunities within the state," he said.
Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, Minister for Large and Medium Industries M B Patil, Minister for Information Technology Priyank Kharge, and senior officials attended the meeting. Patil stated that Karnataka welcomes more investment without hesitation. "We have already allocated 300 acres of land to the company," he said.
Infrastructure and Support
Foxconn is also setting up a manufacturing and assembly facility for mechanical components in EV applications under Project Cheetah. The company has leased private land in Bengaluru District for this project. The Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB), Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL), Fire Brigade, and Pollution Control Boards are working together to ensure smooth implementation.
Minister Patil mentioned on X that Foxconn’s forthcoming investments would significantly contribute to Karnataka’s growth trajectory. "Foxconns forthcoming investments in the state are poised to significantly contribute to Karnatakas growth trajectory," he posted after receiving Young Liu at the airport along with Kharge and other officials.
The government is actively planning and implementing power and water supply specific to Foxconn's projects. This comprehensive support aims to facilitate competitive electronics manufacturing within Karnataka.
The collaboration between Foxconn and Karnataka promises significant mutual benefits. With strong government backing and a conducive environment for electronics manufacturing, Foxconn’s projects are set to thrive in Karnataka.
