The Kerala state government has likely revised the prize structure of lottery categories. As per the latest development, the Rs 50 prize category is likely to be eliminated from June 11, while two new lotteries prize categories of Rs 200 and Rs 2,000 will be introduced.
It is reported that the first draw under the new revised structure will commence on June 11. This comes after a month when the prize structure was revised for first prize of Rs 1 crore category to Rs 50 ticket price.

According to Mathrubhumi's report, the latest revision comes after the observation that neither the agents nor buyers showed interest in the Rs 50 prize category.
Last month, a OnManorama report revealed that Finance Minister K N Balagopal announced that prizes worth Rs 50, which match the ticket's cost, will be phased out, as agents and distributors found them unprofitable. Accordingly, to boost participation, Kerala government would reinstate Rs 2,000 and Rs 200 prize categories, while increasing Rs 5,000 prizes.
As per the report, as much as 1.5 lakh Keralites depend on income from lottery sector. As per the minister, about Rs 43 crore is allocated to welfare initiatives per annum by the government.
Kerala Lottery Prize New Structure:
The reports above highlighted that majority of the changes are made in lottery prizes below Rs 5,000. The newly launched Rs 2,000 and Rs 200 prize categories will be rewarded to 6,480 winners and 1,03,680 winners respectively. Meanwhile, the Rs 5,000 prize category winning numbers are increased to 21,500 from 18,440.
The Rs 1,000 prize winning numbers are increased to 32,400 from 25,920. But the Rs 500 and Rs 100 prize categories winning number are trimmed to 82,080 and 1,49,040 winners from 1,29,6000 and 2,13,840 winners respectively.
