A day after reports surfaced of an astonishing sum credited to a Noida man's deceased mother's bank account, Kotak Mahindra Bank has stepped forward to clarify the situation. The bank dismissed claims of a technical glitch causing the astronomical balance and has advised its customers to use the bank's mobile app or net banking services for checking account balances.
Kotak Mahindra Bank Denies Reports of Noida Man Receiving Rs 1 Septillion Trillion
The bank clarified that media reports about such an unusually large balance were incorrect and urged customers to verify their account details through its digital channels. "Media reports suggesting an unusually large balance in a customer's account are incorrect," the bank stated, assuring that its systems are operating normally and securely.

The account in question belonged to Gayatri Devi, who passed away two months ago. Since her death, her 20-year-old son, Deepak, had been managing the account. On the night of August 3, Deepak received an unexpected notification showing a credit of Rs 1.13 lakh crore, a figure so large that he shared it with friends to confirm he wasn't mistaken.
Videos and screenshots rapidly circulated online, displaying an incomprehensible bank balance of Rs 10,01,35,60,00,00,00,00,00,01,00,23,56,00,00,00,00,299 - a number baffling to anyone. The next morning, Deepak visited the bank for clarification.
While officials confirmed the colossal balance, they explained that the account had been frozen immediately due to the suspicious nature of the deposit. Authorities reported the matter to the Income Tax Department, which has now initiated a formal investigation.
As news of the bizarre incident spread, Deepak found himself overwhelmed by calls from relatives, friends, and neighbors. Struggling to manage the sudden flood of attention, he reportedly switched off his phone to avoid further disturbances. The curious case continues to capture public imagination as investigations proceed.
How Navi UPI App Functions?
The Navi UPI app connects with the customer's bank using Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) provided by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). Each account is assigned a Virtual Payment Address, which serves as a proxy for account details. This setup enables users to perform transactions or check balances without needing direct access to their bank's systems.
For any transaction or balance inquiry, the UPI app sends a request to NPCI's central switch. This switch then routes the request to the respective bank. The bank processes these requests by either debiting the account for payments or providing real-time balance information before responding back.
Kotak Bank Advises To Ensure Secure Transactions
Kotak Bank emphasized that customers should rely on its official digital platforms for accurate account information. Using third-party apps may lead to discrepancies or security concerns. The bank reassured customers that its systems are secure and provide reliable data when accessed through official channels.
