The Maharashtra cabinet has approved seven significant industrial projects worth over Rs 81,000 crore. These initiatives aim to create 20,000 jobs in sectors such as lithium batteries, electric vehicles, and semiconductors. This decision comes just months before the assembly elections.

Among the approved projects, JSW Green Mobility Ltd will invest Rs 27,200 crore in manufacturing electric and hybrid cars in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. This venture is expected to generate over 5,200 jobs and produce 5 lakh electric cars and one lakh commercial cars.
JSW Energy PS Eleven Ltd's Lithium Battery Project
JSW Energy PS Eleven Ltd will establish a mega lithium battery project in Nagpur at a cost of Rs 25,000 crore. This project is anticipated to create 5,000 jobs in the Vidarbha region. The initiative focuses on advancing the state's capabilities in lithium battery manufacturing.
The state's first integrated semiconductor project is proposed for Taloja, an industrial town near Mumbai. This project will cost Rs 12,000 crore and is expected to generate more than 4,000 jobs. In its second phase, similar investments will be made in Mahape, Navi Mumbai, starting with a pilot project in September.
Avaada Electros' Solar and PV Photovoltaic Modules
Avaada Electros plans to set up an integrated solar and PV photovoltaic modules and electrolyzer project in Nagpur and Panvel. The project will cost Rs 13,647 crore and is expected to create 8,000 jobs. This initiative aims to boost renewable energy production in the state.
Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages will establish a fruit pulp and juice facility in Ratnagiri, located in the coastal Konkan region. This facility will cost Rs 1,500 crore and is projected to generate numerous employment opportunities in the area.
Pernod Ricard India Pvt Ltd's Alcohol Manufacturing Unit
Pernod Ricard India Pvt Ltd will set up an alcohol manufacturing unit in MIDC Nagpur at a cost of Rs 1,785 crore. This project is part of the state's efforts to attract diverse industries and create job opportunities across various sectors.
The approved projects are set to be developed in the Konkan, Marathwada, and Vidarbha regions of Maharashtra. Assembly polls are scheduled for October in these areas. The Shiv Sena-BJP-NCP government has faced criticism from the opposition regarding big-ticket projects opting for other states over Maharashtra.
An official statement issued after the cabinet meeting highlighted that these projects would significantly contribute to the state's industrial growth. The government aims to counter opposition claims by showcasing these substantial investments and job creation efforts.
The Mahayuti grand alliance government remains committed to fostering industrial development within Maharashtra. These new projects are expected to enhance the state's economic landscape and provide substantial employment opportunities for its residents.
